Neck Pain Relief in Bellevue
Given the long hours many people spend working at their desks and staring at their screens, it’s unsurprising that they often experience neck pain. Sleeping in awkward positions can also lead to this type of discomfort.
Now for the good news: chiropractic care at Endeavor Health and Pain Management provides natural, effective relief from chronic neck pain by addressing the root cause.
The Main Causes
One of the leading causes of neck pain today is poor posture. Whether we’re at our desks working, looking at our phones, or even driving, our necks often fall out of alignment. The ideal posture—where your head sits directly over your shoulders—is rarely maintained during these activities.
Instead, we tend to slouch, causing tension and strain on the neck and upper back muscles. If left untreated, this poor alignment can lead to chronic discomfort, headaches, and even long-term degenerative changes in the spine, like arthritis.
It’s not just adults who suffer from this problem—kids are also increasingly affected by neck pain due to toting heavy backpacks and spending significant time on their devices. Early intervention is crucial when it comes to preventing long-term issues.
Our Treatment Approach
During your first visit, Dr. Kara will perform a thorough assessment, including a detailed history, orthopedic exam, and a neurological examination to rule out any underlying conditions. For posture-related neck pain, spinal adjustments are highly effective at realigning the spine and reducing tension.
In addition to spinal adjustments, our chiropractor uses soft tissue therapies such as Active Release Technique® (ART®) and muscle stretching techniques to relieve tension in the surrounding muscles. By addressing both the spine and the muscles that support it, chiropractic care helps relieve pain and prevent future issues from developing.
Simple Changes to Prevent Neck Pain
Dr. Kara also recommends the following to address cervical discomfort:
The 90-90-90 Position
One of the best practices is to maintain a proper sitting posture. Anytime you’re at your desk, you should be seated in the 90-90-90 position.
This means that your elbows should be bent at a 90-degree angle, your hips at a 90-degree angle, and your knees at a 90-degree angle. Your ankles should be at 90 degrees as well, and your wrists should be kept in a neutral position. Your shoulders should be pulled back and your head and neck should be sitting above your shoulders.
Take Breaks
Regular breaks from screen time and incorporating stretching exercises into your daily routine can help maintain good neck health.
Get a Sit-Stand Desk
You can also consider getting a sit-stand desk, which allows you to move and change your position frequently throughout the day.
